Buying a ticket is easy. Before boarding the train, purchase your ticket at one of the several Ticket Vending Machines located at all stations.

We accept CASH, CREDIT CARDS, DEBIT CARDS AND WCE XPRESS CARDS (see below). All West Coast Express (WCE) tickets are valid for use on TransLink transit services and for transfer to Central Fraser Valley Transit. Customers coming from transit services may purchase an add-fare ticket prior to boarding WCE. Please retain tickets, proof of purchase is required at all times while in a fare paid zone.

  • Note: Any inquiries regarding ticket purchase, refunds or extensions should be directed to Customer Service within seven business days. With the exception of the Advance 28-day pass; tickets may not be purchased in advance of the day of travel.
  • Fare Categories

    • Adult Fare - Applicable to any journey made by anyone over 13 years of age who does not have a high school student ID, GoCard, CNIB pass, HandyCard or War Amputee pass.


    • Concession Fare - Applicable to children 5-13 years of age, high-school students with a valid GoCard (or if they are students from Mission - school ID with picture and school name), seniors (65 and up with valid identification) and persons with a valid TransLink Handy Card, MSS pass or Government of BC annual pass.


    • Children under 5 - Free / No Fare Required
      Children 4 and under ride free (do not require ticket).


    • CNIB Pass holders - : Free / No Fare Required
      CNIB holders may ride free on WCE. CNIB passes are non-transferable (non-photographic) cards issued annually by the CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the Blind).


    • War Amputee Pass holders - : Free / No Fare Required
      War Amputee Pass holders may ride free. War Amputee passes are annual passes issued by TransLink and distributed by the War Amputations Association.


    • College and University Students There are special rates for U-pass and Fast Trax holders. Please refer to "College and University Students" section for more details.
    Types of Tickets

    WCE Ticket Vending Machines sell a variety of ticket types:
    • Add-Fare - one-zone discount ($2.50 for adults in GVRD and $1.50 in Mission) available to UPASS holders and customers with a valid transfer/pass from TransLink or Central Fraser Valley Transit.


    • One Way Fare - valid for a one-way trip on WCE and connections to TransLink or Central Fraser Valley services. Tickets expire three hours from time of purchase. AM issued tickets are valid for a one-way trip on WCE, plus transfer and unlimited travel on all TransLink services up to time of expiry. PM issued tickets are valid for a one-way trip on WCE, plus transfer and unlimited travel on all TransLink services up to time of expiry.


    • Return Fare - Return tickets are valid for a round trip on WCE, plus transfer and unlimited travel on all TransLink services and transfer to any Central Fraser Valley services when connecting from the WCE. These tickets are valid from time of issuance to midnight on the date of expiry. Provides savings of about 6% over single ticket price.


    • Weekly Pass - Valid for five consecutive WCE operating days, plus intervening weekends and statutory holidays. Includes free transfers to all TransLink services. Save about 20% over single ticket price.


    • 28-day Pass - Ideal for regular commuters, this pass is valid for 28 consecutive calendar days, including intervening weekends and statutory holidays. Includes free transfers to all TransLink services. Save an average of 38% over single ticket price.


    • Xpress Card - WCE Xpress Cards provides extra savings on one-way, return, bike and parking tickets. These rechargeable, stored-value cards let you deposit up to $100 on the card using cash, credit or debit cards at any WCE Ticket Vending Machine. Each time you make a deposit to your Xpress Card, a 20% bonus will be added to your Xpress balance. Follow the simple instructions on the screen to purchase applicable tickets.

      Xpress cards may be obtained at the Waterfront Customer Service office or by contacting Customer Service at 604.488.8906. *Please note there is a $10.00 deposit and/or replacement fee for all cards.



    • Advance 28-day Pass - WCE 28-day passes can be purchased in advance. You may purchase your 28-Day pass a day in advance by visiting our Customer Service Centre, or by calling Customer Service at 604 488-8906 to make arrangements. Some TVM's can also sell regular 28-Day passes the night before - ask your Service Host at your station for more information.


    • Employer Program - Commuters with zone 1, 2, 3 EP passes must purchase add-fare tickets. Pass holders with WCE Employer Program passes need not purchase additional fare. Extension tickets are available for pass holders who wish to travel to an additional station that is not included in their pass.

      Lost EP passes are subject to a replacement fee of $50.00, however damaged or worn out passes will be replaced free of charge upon exchange. Contact TransLink directly.

      The Employer Program is part of TransLink's Annual Employer Pass Program. Employers or individuals interested in joining should contact TransLink directly at 604.453.4615 or visit the Translink Website.

    • Parking Tickets - Parking tickets are $2.00 a day or $40.00 for 28 days. They can be purchased at the ticket vending machines (TVM’s) at each station. Parking machines accept Xpress cards, credit cards and coins.Pay-by-phone option is also available, please visit our parking page for more info.


    • WCE Bike Passes - Bike passes are $1.00 a day or $15.00 for 28 days. WCE may carry up to 2 bikes per car. Cyclists onboard trains must have valid proof of fare payment at all times. Daily bike passes may be purchased from the ticket vending machines at the station and the 28-day bike passes may be purchased from the Waterfront office at #295, 601 West Cordova Street, or other arrangements can be made by phone.

    College/University Students
    • U-Pass -U-Pass is a pass program administered by TransLink that provides Simon Fraser (SFU) and University of BC (UBC) students with a discounted pass for the transit system.
      - On TransLink’s services the U-Pass alone is valid for travel.
      - On WCE the U-Pass card entitles riders to discounts on one-way tickets and 28-day tickets. One-way tickets are available for add-fare price and a special 28-day pass for $84.75 is available from the TVM.
      - U-Pass is re-issued each semester and is not valid after the expiry date.


    • FastTrax - The FastTrax decal is available to full-time students attending participating post-secondary institutions in the Lower Mainland and is accepted by Coast Mountain Bus, SkyTrain, SeaBus and West Vancouver Transit. The FastTrax decal allows travel all day, any day (one, two or three zones) throughout TransLink’s system for the price of a One Zone Fare.

      Students who wish to purchase a WCE FastTrax pass pay $121.50 for a 28-day pass valid on all TransLink services. Students must carry their student ID card with the attached Fast Trax decal.

      Participating Post Secondary Institutions

      Vancouver Community College, Native Education Centre, Vancouver Vocational Institute. Pacific Marine Training Institute, Douglas College, Capilano College, British Columbia Institute of Technology, Kwantlen University College, Institute of Indigenous Government , Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, Langara College, Technical University of British Columbia, Open Learning University/International

      Program Qualifications

      The individual Student Union Societies have agreed to administer this program and any student wanting a FastTrax sticker must bring proof of their registration form, which indicates the number of courses they are taking to their student association, who will issue them the sticker. There will be a nominal fee charged by the student union for this sticker.

      All inquiries about this program should be referred to the Student Union Society at their post-secondary institution.

    Other TransLink Fare Types
    • TransLink Tickets - TransLink transfers, FareSavers, FareCards, UniverCity passes and Day passes may be used in conjunction with a WCE add-fare ticket.

    • Go Cards - In order to be eligible for a GoCard and be entitled to travel at the Concession Fare, students must meet all of the following requirements:
      - Must be 14 - 19 years of age (inclusive).
      - Live within the Vancouver Regional Transit System service area.
      - Have a valid school identification (photo ID).
      - Attend school full time at a public / private institution between grades 8-12 (inclusive).

      GoCard application forms are available for those students who did not attend the in-school photo session in September. Late GoCard applicants must have this form completed and signed by a school official prior to having their photograph taken at Photo Identification. A completed GoCard application form is not valid as proof of Concession Fare eligibility. For security purposes, the forms have serial numbers.
      Students who have either lost their GoCards or who registered for school after September of the given school year may get a new or replacement GoCard photo. This is done by taking a signed form from their high school to the GoCard office at 7th and Cambie. Their picture will be taken and there is a $10.00 charge for the new card.


    • Handy Card - A Handy Card holder is eligible for concession fares on the WCE. The Handy Card is a photographic identification card issued by the Authority to persons eligible to use custom transit service. A person who accompanies and assists a holder may ride free of charge.


    • Ministry of Social Services Pass - A Ministry of Social Services pass is an annual transit pass for concession fares on the WCE. MSS passes are identification cards issued by the Ministry of Social Services with the authority of TransLink that incorporates design features specified and approved by TransLink.
